About
I’m a freelance Photographer and visual storyteller based outside of NYC in Bridgeport, CT, and the Bay Area, California. My work is dedicated to the intersection of social impact and human-centered storytelling domestically and abroad. To achieve this, I use photography, cinematography, and art direction in collaboration with editorial publications, brands, and NGOs.
Formerly, I led visual strategy at hyper-local digital news publication The Oaklandside as Staff Photojournalist in my hometown of Oakland, California. Working across newsrooms, I pitched stories and completed assignments for the three internal newsrooms at Cityside (East Bay Nosh, Berkeleyside, The Oaklandside) with a focus on community and local impact.
As a Photographer, I’ve independently covered social justice movements and community stories in Oakland for over 10 years, as well as internationally in France and Hong Kong. In March 2024, I was the Photographer in Residence for Saint-Denis, France, a town north of Paris, documenting community stories of perseverance and gentrification as the city prepares for the 2024 Olympics in the area, and I gave photo workshops to local high school students. My editorial contributions have been featured in The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, CalMatters, Nevada Independent, Canada’s The Globe & Mail, among others.
As a Cinematographer and Co-producer, I’ve served on projects such as the poetic short film “Tales of the Town (2023),” a heartfelt tribute to generations of Oaklanders that screened at de Young Museum in San Francisco. In 2022, I journeyed through East Africa as the Cinematographer for the docu-series “Into The Archives,” a six-episode exploration of Black art and culture with a mission to prevent redlining in the metaverse. I’ve also worked in community-centered non-profits and local government producing multimedia programming to promote interest and civic engagement from the public.
Additionally, my art direction work reflects years of multicultural marketing and advertising experience in visual communication and design. I formerly worked as an Associate Art Director at Carol H. Williams Advertising, a Black and woman-owned and led ad agency. I’ve contributed to art direction for corporate clients such as AARP, Chevrolet, YMCA, Union Bank, as well as community initiatives like Oakland Music Festival.
I’ve had the opportunity to speak and host workshops at Google, The Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA), UC Berkeley, Maynard Institute for Journalism Education.
I’ve attended Berkeley City College and Laney College and completed courses in Emergent Media, Photojournalism, and Advertising. I hold an Adobe Certified Associate certification in Visual Communication. I’m also an alum of CatchLight Local Fellowship (2022), Youth Radio Digital Media Fellowship, Mountain Workshop, and Foundry Photojournalism Workshop.
I’m passionate about storytelling related to local and international communities. I’m available worldwide for assignments, collaborations and productions.
